I currently have a GTX 260 216core card (PNY). I have been debating on getting another and purchasing my 3rd monitor for flight sim. all together this should run around 300ish i figure. I have the xfx 790 ultra 3 way sli board. My current 700 watt psu should handle 2 cards fine but probably not 3. I was wondering if that is my best option to go for, or if its worth waiting a little while for a better card to come out and do then (price and performance in mind) Im not as up to date with current tech as i would like to be so I was wondering what the experts think! Thanks!

What's your system?
For terms of power I need everything.
CPU, how many hard drives, dvd drives, etc.

Answering your question:
In terms of price to performance, the 260 216core should be good. It would be also good to SLI these.

Also keep in mind that Microsoft Flight Simulator relies on the CPU just as much if not more than the graphics card(s).

I have a 1gb 4890 clocked at 950mhz and memory at 900.
Core i7, 6gb of RAM, 1Kw power supply.

Still can't run the game at max settings. Close to it, though.

SLI GTX 260 will perform nicely.
If you want equivalent performance from a single card then you will have to spend more than what you will spend on SLI.

So the better option is to SLI.

well DX11 comes out soon right? I think i might wait a little bit for a price drop before i switch to SLI... and for my system specs
Coolermaster 700watt silent psu q9550, coolermaster v8 (running at stock right now, with potential for faster if needed) xfx 790 ultra 3 way sli 2gb ocz ddr3 16000 (this is also getting upped a bit before i switch to sli) pny gtx 260 216core 896megs segate barracuda 1.5tb hd

Well a single GTX295 outperforms 2 GTX280's. So you can draw your own conclusions.
Everything Ive read says the GTX295 is really a GTX275x2 and two GTX 275s will outperform it (due to higher clock speeds). Two GTX 285s certainly outperform a 295. 3 GTX 275s will match twin 295s and 3 GTX 285s outperform everything (except maybe four 4890s which I havent a review of). The 260 is not too far behind the 275 (maybe 10%) so twin 260s should get pretty close to the performance of a 295.

I have always wanted to do the sli just to say I did it pretty much. And so far with my current setup even though i dont have sli running as of yet I am very pleased with the components. After this I may move on to liquid cooling... 😀

What temps do you have currently? Are you going to WC for fun or because you need lower temps?
