SLI - PC won't start

I have a ASUS P9X79 motherboard, and have been trying to get my to Geforce 970 GTX graphics cards to work (SLI). The computer works with one card inserted into the top slot. But when I install the second card the PC won't start. I thought it may be a power-supply problem, so I installed a 850Watt power-supply. It did not help at all. Does anyone know anything about this issue?

Yes I did. It still won't start. I hope it isn't a bad slot on my motherboard.
