Let's keep this quick and straight to the point. What you should know
My Setup is a lenovo y-500
GPU: GT 750m x2 SLI
Core i5 3630qm
16gb ram
500gb SSD
The Problem:
My last driver was from 2015. No games had flickering in SLI using this driver. I updated my driver to one from December 2019, it didn't function at all. Severe green flickering in windows and games WOULD NOT LAUNCH at all, black screen. I rolled back to 2015 driver all was fine once again.
Yesterday I decided to upgrade my drivers using the device manager, it found one from 2018.
Let me tell you, this was the greatest boost in performance i've ever seen from a driver upgrade. I have gained anywhere from 25-30fps in all games I've tested.
However I launched my modded skyrim with 190 mods and the screen flickers uncontrollably. This is the only game that flickers all other work flawlessly. SLI is the problem because upon disabling it flickering stops. Also with SLI the game is capped to 30hz and 30fps for some reason.
For my setup SLI is not a luxury, it's a necessity. Without SLI my frame rate is reduced by 3x in most games. Meaning in skyrim I can play in 1440p with 60 fps in SLI, but without it I struggle to maintain 60fps in 1366x768 in lowest settings.
Yes I could change drivers (again) but I would like to explore other options first. What can I chnage in nvidia control panel etc. I don't want to lose this massive gain in performance I've gotten.
If I can find a driver for a lenovo y500 that keeps the same perforamnce as the current driver provides but doesn't have flicker I would gladly upgrade. Maybe someone here can help me find one. Thanks so much.
