Hey guys,
I haven't been a hardware guy for a long time. (since College) I generally deal in software. So when it comes to hardware I look for help from friends, etc.
Lately after changing my hardware (monitors and an extra video card) I have been having lag in games and on my desktop. It looks like mouse not working, responding but that's not the case. The video / input is definitely not responding or lagging.
Examples: Using bluestacks, playing games like CoH or EVE (just moving a mouse in game, the game "freezes" and then responds with my mouse flying across the screen and the game scrolling)
Typing in a chat window (any game) or on Teamspeak, and having it lag, appear to not type and then catching up.
I have a Windows 64 bit machine. i7-3930 with 64 GB of RAM and 2 Geforce GTX 760s running in SLI. I have 4 monitors connected. (2x DVI, 1 HDMI to DVI, DP to DVI) I've looked in to the possiblity of one of these monitors/connections being the issue, I make sure to only play games on the two screens that are DVI and use the HDMI / DP for browsing)
Everything tells me this should work. I originally had everything misconfigured and was running 2 monitors on each card thus not using SLI. I still had lag in that case, but it was more limited to the random games locking up and not so much the desktop chat windows / typing.
- Nvidia Driver: 9.18.13
- I have SLI enabled, Maxmimize 3D Performance is enabled.
- All windows areo, transparencies, etc are turned off (Looks like Windows 2000 at the moment)
- All monitors and colours are at 1920x1080 and are now turned down to 16 bit. (Was previously 32 bit as of last night)
- CPU and RAM are around 18-25% with 9-14 GB used when gaming.
I'm generally good at troubleshooting PC problems but when it comes to this, I'm thinking hardware, misconfiguration, driver issue, etc... but I've tried all I can think of.
Any help is appreciated. I have dxdiag, screenshots of video card settings, and more ready if you think we need it.
