SLI vs 1 Powerful GPU

Deciding if I should buy 2 moderately expensive (200-300$) graphics cards, or if I should just buy 1 monster graphic card (like the newly announced Gigabyte 780ti OC edition).

I want my rig to be a BEAST... but will it be a beast with 1 gpu, or 2 "cheap" sli gpu's?

I'd personally go with the 780Ti, as the power draw will be less, and you won't have any of the SLI issues. Plus that card can handle anything.

You can always get a second one in the future as well.

Always better with one monster gpu then sli. A lot games take along time fully optimize for sli.

go for 1 powerful gpu....yields better results in all games, while sli becomes dependent on optimization. not to mention micro shutter in some games
