SLI with different GPUs

No. Exact same GPU, you can have different makers, but exact same GPUs, like GK104 with GK104.

Not even gk104 and gk104 as there are different versions. Like the 760 and 770 are both gk104 but you can't sli them. Only the same gpu model. 770 with 770.

I don't have and never have had an NVidia GPU, but I know that the GK104 is the 770. Now that I look it is also the 760. Good catch. You need the 770 with 770, 780 with 780, 760 with 760, etc. Also, not 780 with 780 Ti.
