sli with gtx 980 and a gtx 980 Ti?

This is more of a wonderment but can a person use a gtx 980 and a gtx 980 Ti in sli? I already have a GTX 980 and I was wondering if I could get a 980 Ti sli them and get the befit of the 6 Gig memory from the 980 Ti. The reason I wonder this is because (if I'm correct) in sli the memory don't scale and you only use one of the cards memory. In the case of the 980 this is 4 Gig in sli. Could the 980 Ti be the top card and thus use the 6 Gig?

No, they must be the same base card.
The 980 is a GM204 card, where the Ti is the GM200.

They use a different gpu and have different amounts of vram so they are not SLI compatible.
