I intend to get a ASUS Sli motherboard with 2x GF6600GT cards, can anyone
say for certain how well these 2 cards will perform? i.e. will they be
better than a single 6800 Ultra???

TIA

Yes, I'm running the SLI (msi 6600gts) with the ASUS motherboard right
now, and it's great. It's faster than 1 6800GT, by a fair margin. My
highest 3dmark05 score is 7300 so far. Using an athlon 64 (3000) chip,
overclocked to 2400 mhz. Make sure you update the bios on the asus
board. I bought better cooling for the cards since they are so close
together, the 1 card doesn't get alot of air. I would recommend cutting
a hole in the side of your case and installing a fan that directly blows
onto your video cards. They generate ALOT of heat.

Depends on the game. If the game hasn't been optimised for SLI by NVidia,
then the 6800U will win, otherwise, it's a fairly dead heat with the winner
depending on how much eye candy is turned on. Anandtech has a nice writeup:

Yeah I just read that 2 gf6600 gt's consume over 130W of power!!!! that's a
huge amount, seeing as my pc is on for most of the day, I think I will wait
for ATI to make some SLI cards.
