CPU: Ryzen 5 7500F

CPU Cooler: Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE

Other people with this CPU and Cooler say they're getting 38 degrees on idle while im getting 45-47. Also on HWMONITOR there is a big temperature difference with CPU Package temp and CCD. CPU Package temp is 45.9 while CCD is 35.8, is that normal?

And Task Manager says im running at 4.2-4.5 GHz on idle, do AMD CPUs run at high frequency always?
I'm using balanced power plan.

what are ambient temps as they play a part? how many case fans?

Wonder, are other people reporting core temps while you are looking at package? that could explain difference, as your core is actually 35c which is lower. You might not have a problem.

variance in package temps to core is normal for ryzen. MIne always 9c apart - on a 5800x3d

task manager just can't read their speeds accurately. Use HWINFO

task manager always shows my CPU as over 4ghz when its really running at 100mhz idling.

Core effective clock = actual CPU speed. Both of these can't be right

Task manager is way off. Its showing the old way to measure speeds, it doesn't account for sleeping cores.

Your temps aren't bad really. Maybe not as low as some but since CPU can run into 80's, its hardly struggling.

I normally track the Core temps more than package as its more indicative of actual CPU activity. Package temps can rise and fall all day as CPU wakes a core to run a process, and once its finished, races core back to asleep.. so up/down all day. Its winter here so I am getting some crazy temps

order is cores/package/nvme/gpu

I got a classic mesh pc case 3 intake fans at the front and 1 exhaust in the back the ambient temperature is around 25 It's summer here. Also do i not have to worry about package temps? If my package temps hit 90 but core temps stay at 80 will it start throttling? and what type of cooler are you using? Those temps are actually crazy even in winter I know my temps are still within the safe range but i was expecting better performance because of all the reviews online and stuff I guess ill benchmark again in winter and see if theres a very big difference.

I downloaded HWInfo and here are the clock speeds when theres only firefox running on the background
Mine is running at almost 100 mhz idle too . but then why does cpu package still get hot ?

I think cores only start to throttle if they hit 95C which is their max - https://www.amd.com/en/products/processors/desktops/ryzen/7000-series/amd-ryzen-5-7500f.html

Only time I ever seen mine hit 90c+ was when I ran Prime95. Most times all the cores won't be at max.

Arctic Cooler 360mm AIO. It was also about 4am in that shot and I had only just started PC. Cores on 29c now.

Not all the cores are on 100. That is average. Click on arrow next to Core effective clocks shows all threads

So the Package temp includes all the temps from the cores.
Ryzen CPU have over 200 sensors inside the CPU. They all count towards Core temps.
Core temps show 1 core, Package is showing the combined total of 6 Cores. So the outside is going to be warmer than the inside cores themselves.

in my case its 8 cores
