Slow boot at bios

Hello, I recently built my first PC. My motherboard is an ASRock P67 Extreme4. When the PC boots, it stays on the ASRock screen for 22 seconds, which seems absurdly long to me. Win 7 is on an SSD and I'm using a Core i5, so once it hits the windows screen I'm up and running in just a few seconds, but the bios part really drags. I've upgraded to the latest bios. Any ideas? Thanks.

In the UEFI Setup Utility's Boot screen there is an item with the name "Setup Prompt Timeout".

What is the timeout value set to (i.e. number of seconds)?

Try lowering the number of seconds and see if it has any effect.

If you are using a large (1-2 TB) hard drive, no wonder.
The OS should be on a fast, small drive. Just the OS and programs only.
Your files should be on a large drive, separate from the OS drive. This usually cures the problem.
Also in the bios, look for "quick boot" settings.

Thanks for the ideas. It figures that after I've been trying to solve this for two weeks that the answer occurs to me an hour after I post the question online. My main drive is a 120GB SSD. I have an old hard drive that uses an IDE cable that I tried to add, but it has never showed up in BIOS or windows. I disconnected the IDE cable, and the BIOS went from 22 seconds to 2 seconds.

I tried the drive in various jumper settings, slave, cable select, main. None worked. Apparently the BIOS was taking 20 seconds to try to figure out what to do with that drive?
