Slow browser speed

I have been having issues with browsing the internet on chrome recently my internet speeds are good and I have no problem streaming videos. But whenever I open a new tab it freezes and typing is very slow and generally unresponsive and it is becoming very frustrating.

I have tried disabling all my addons and extensions and it hasn't helped I have also run virus checks and nothing comes up. this is not an issue when browsing on firefox but i prefer chrome to Firefox so i want to try and fix the problem.

Have you tried reinstalling Chrome?
