Slow comcast internet

i have a Mac & i have Comcast "High-Speed" internet & a Cisco Lynksys router. my service is fine when my laptop is hooked directly into the modem, but through the router its ridiculously slow ho w do i make work the way i want it & the way its supposed to? please someone help, E-Mail me @ michaelpuglisi@att.blackberry.net

Is this a new issue? If it's new then the router may need to be rebooted.
