Slow download speeds

My download speeds are averaging about 50 kb/s though if I restart my router or the pc itself, I can achieve 2-4 Mb/s for a few minutes before it falls back down. I'm using a wireless connection.

I've scanned for viruses and cleaned my registry to no avail.

Any help? <3

Using a router. Downloading games from steam. Videos and images are also loading slowly on Chrome.

The speedtest gave me 0.52 Mbps Download speed.

Closed the tab already for that test so I did two new tests.

Test on nearby server: 19 ms Ping - 0.54 Mbps DL - 10.66 Mbps Upload

Test on distant server: 94 ms Ping - 0.54 Mbps DL - 9.30 Mbps Upload

Have a look for WMM and your brand of router. Once you find the user manual and disable WMM in the Router settings or simply have a look in your router settings and see if you can find it - probably in the wireless settings

Disabled WMM and the speed shot up for a few seconds before dropping.

OK try removing the ADSL Splitter from the line if you have one or better still swapping it. Also try disabling any antivirus software you have to see if the situation improves. If you are using auto on the router band settings maybe change it to Wireless G and test it just to see if things improve.

No ADSL Splitter. The other solutions didn't resolve the issue. I get a short boost in speed when I change a router setting because of the temporary disconnect but that's all.

Sorry buddy but I think I have exhausted my knowledge. Perhaps someone with more ideas will help. I think it maybe hardware. Can you get your cable provider to change your router? Also if you dont get a solution I would repost you problem with a link to this thread because a lot of members will ignore threads with a lot of replies but they may just have the answer. I will keep this in mind and if I think of anything you can try I will post it up.

I appreciate the effort.

Have you reset the TCP stack if not try http://www.windows-secrets.co.uk/2013/08/repair-the-windows-87vista-tcpip-stack/

Final thought, go to device manager, right click your network adaptor and remove the device then reboot and let windows find it again

Tried both. No luck.
