Okay guys I'm stumped... All of the sudden my Surface Pro 1 (Windows 8.1) is getting slow download speeds. speedtest.net results in 4Mb/s speeds, but if i test on my phone or another laptop (via wi-fi) I receive 40Mb/s speeds. When I check the Wi-Fi Status in the Network and Sharing center it reports the speed is 270 Mbp/s. Upload speed are fine (5 Mbp/s) also I can transfer a file from my Surface to another PC on the network and it is fast (5-6 MB/s), but if I try to transfer a file to my Surface its slow (500KB/s).

I think that I've tried all the standard trouble shooting processes:

  • Verified latest drivers (May 2014)
    Un-installed and re-installed drivers
    Disabled anti-virus
    Rebooted router
    Rebooted modem
Restored via Windows System Restore point in case there were some recent Windows updates that affected it

Any ideas?

Tried that and no luck. I did some more searching online and found some posts of people having similar issues with their Surface and DD-WRT. For the heck of it I reverted my router to stock firmware and sure enough everything is fine now. I guess there's something about DD-WRT that doesn't like Surface tablets.
