Slow file copying in usb ports

i have a win7 ulti with usb 3.0 ports a i7 cpu 6 gbs ram 60% free hdd storage and in very good condition without any viruses i take care a lot for my laptop but the usb transfer rate in 4MB/s i really need help i expect at least a 20 mb/s .... soudn'l i ?

Yeah, but what are you copying it to? Many cheap USB drives won't do more than that.

From what I understand, USB send data in pulses that peak at 480 mb/s (bits, not bytes) for USB2. So the average transfer rate is lower than advertised peak transfer rate. That is why USB is good to transfer smaller files (like songs) but not so good with big files.

Plus, if your flash drive is USB 2.0 (or even an ancient USB 1.0) drive, then your USB 3.0 ports will automatically throttle themselves down to the compatible speed.
