Slow Internet After Installing Windows 10

So I recently decided to upgrade from Windows 8 to Windows 10 since I also bought a new SSD to install it on. Installation was fine however booting into Windows 10 I was greeted with SUPER slow internet. Like 1mb download and <1mb upload speed. Booted back into Windows 8 (installed on my HDD) and my internet speed was fine again (<50mb download and upload speed).

I've tried the various solutions provided in sites such as this (https://saintlad.com/slow-internet-on-windows-10) but it was still uber slow. I thought it might be my wifi adapter+driver issue but I uninstalled it and plugged it back in (at least I think it did it properly) but that didn't work either.

Pretty sure my hardware can run Windows 10 but just in case here's my specs:

- MOBO: Gigabyte Ga-X99 Gaming 5
- CPU: i7-5930k
- RAM: Ballistix 8gb DDR4
- GPU: GTX 570

Any help is appreciated. Thanks for reading.

PS.
On a unrelated side note - is it possible to find my old documents on my HDD when booted into Windows 10? I do see it in my libraries but I'm not quite sure where to find everything.

I think so? I tried to update drivers but the problem is I have a TP Link adapter (TL-WN822N V3) and on the drivers list it says the highest OS support is Windows 8.1 - tried updating with those but still no difference.

I guess I'll order a different wifi adapter and see if that works

Ah I'm just a dumb - didn't realize my mobo had an onboard wifi adapter and Win 10 used that by default - if anyone else is in a similar situation to mine just click on the wifi icon and on the very top there should be a box that when you click reveals "Wifi and Wifi2" - I had to choose Wifi2 and my PC used the correct wifi adapter.
