Hi I've had this problem going on as long as I could remember. I live in a rural area and have to have at&t dsl internet as cable is not supported in my area yet. The package we have is HSI PRO and says that I'm supposed to get 1.5-3.0 Mbps download speed. I'm also a big pc game which I manage but when ever I have to update a video game or buy one the speed is SUPER slow. I'm talking 280 - 54 Kbps slow and that is no where what I am paying for. To put that into perspective to download a 45 gb game takes somewhere from 2 to 3 days of my computer running non stop...We have tried calling numerous times to at&t and they tell us that it is slow and they will send a tech out to come asses the problem. The tech never showed up the first time and the second time was for a problem that our DSL modem was having which it still does but not as much. It would not work intermittently, the service light would flicker red and do that for hours with no internet. But I just need some advice on what I should do. How would you approach this?

Call them back. You are paying for a certain level of service and they need to deliver that. The contract you may have entered into with them is a two way street.

On a side note your stated speeds don't look right. 54kbps is probably KBps. 1.5-3/0mbps is pretty slow. I only have a 25mbps connection and it's not fast enough for someone who watches youtube a LOT and I'm a gamer as well. Unfortunately I'm in the country so I have to deal with satellite. But as for you I recommend calling them back and getting this situation taken care of. The same way we can breach a contract and have our service canceled, your ISP can be in the wrong as well.
