Hi, I built myself a new PC but the internet speed is terrible. Sometimes the internet speed is okay and then it suddenly drops to nothing like I'm not even connected to the internet. I'm using USB wifi adapter which I used on my old PC so the adapter is 100% fine, also the drivers are updated aswell as LAN drivers.

Any help would be appreciated

Connect the computer directly to the modem, with a cable, and see what speeds you get. If they are low, then contact your ISP, and have them correct it as you will not be able to fix that.

Next, connect the router, and see what the speeds are while connected with a wire. If they are stable, then connect via wifi across multiple devices, and see if all of them have issues, or the issue is limited to the PC with the tplink adapter. Look for a router firmware upgrade, and also the latest tplink drivers.

Try the router on a different channel. I run Vistumbler periodically to see what channels the surrounding networks are on, and to choose a different one. Recall that 1.6 and 11 are the only three choices for 2.4 GHz channels as the...
well I usually get about 10mb/s and then it drops to about 200kb/s and it just keeps happening. I though that moving the adapter to faster USB port would help but nothing changed. The adapter i'm using is tp link tl-wn722n and had no issues with it until now. Also restarting the modem does not help.

Finally, try a different wifi adapter.

While this is a lot of steps, going through this in an organized fashion will get your network working again optimally.
