slow start up

my computer takes over 7 minutes to get to the welcome screen! i've formatted
the drives and reinstalled xp pro but startup still takes between 7 and 9 min
there are no conflicks showing and once started the computer runs fine! when
i first installed win XP pro it took about 1 1/2 minutes anyone got any
idears it seems to be the window xp start sceen as post only takes 20sec but
then once the startup screen appears the computer goes inactive with no disk
activity for a long time.

do a clean install.

Check Event Viewer (Start - > Settings -> Control Panel - > Administrative
Tools - > Event Viewer) for possible errors.
