Slow startup and shutdown windows 7

New Laptop and having trouble with a very slow startup and shutdown in windows 7

Most likely bloatware from the manufacturer. Hold down the Windows key, press R, type in msconfig and press enter. Go to the Startup tab and start unchecking things one by one, rebooting after. That will help you narrow it down. If the app causing slowdown is not needed, uninstall it.
