I stream from my media server and have found that it works great in one part of the house, but there is a definite lag in another area. For example loading youtube takes quite a while.
I have the netgear wndr 3700 router.
Would another router correct this problem ?
I was looking at the TP Link Archer C7

Solution
Wifi Repeater will not increase the speed, only range, it will actually make it slower because of the way wifi works (half duplex, all that jazz.)

Rather run a ethernet/LAN cable to the other side of the house and connect an access point to it.

Another option are those Powerline adapters, that use the wiring in your house to extend your LAN.

May be interference from other devices, physical things degrading the signal, further distance etc. Wireless connection is not always reliable and the fact that it works good in one are and not another indicates that it is most definatly one of the causes mentioned. You could get a wi-fi extender to get better signal in that specific area.

It wont make it faster than the original connection but it should give it similar speeds to the room where it works great.

I noticed that the good speed roku is connecting at 5gz where the far end unit is connecting at 2.4
The TP Link Archer C7 router seems to get great reviews on speed/ range, Do you think it would be better than my older netgear wndr3700 ?
