Slow Wireless Internet conection. Will buying a better wireless internet adapter help?

I currently am getting download speeds of around 100 KB/S on Steam. For my wireless I am using a USB NetGear WNDA3100, which states speeds of up to 300 mbps. So I want to know if getting a more expensive/better wireless adapter would improve speeds, or if they are bottleneck by the connection range, and my current adapter could do better if it was closer.
Thanks!

The Netgear would be your Router. You modem is what feeds it. Try using http://www.speedtest.net/ and see what your actual speed is. Steam only uses a portion of your full download speeds. I would just try turning the modem and the netgear off for a few seconds then reboot them.

Speed test results
14ms Ping, 2.15 mbps Download, and 5.30 mbps Upload.
