So basically i have had this problem several times. Earlier i have bought new routers and or modems and the problem got away. Obviously I'm looking for an alternative solution.
My download speed when tested at Speedtest.net used to be about 40 Mbps or more while it has suddenly dropped down to around 5 Mbps now. It is also more unstable (get more disconnects). The upload speed is still the same (around 8-10 Mbps).
It is not something that changes over time or at sertain times of the day. Its the same slow internet all the time. It also goes for every device that is connected to the internet. It used to be fast, but has become slow.
I was not monitoring anything, but the problem happened in an instance or say over a day. And I've noticed a pattern of the damage happening after watching porn.
To me it sounds like a virus changes the settings of something (perhaps the router) so that it doesnt allow you to use the whole bandwidth.
Yes I've tried scanning for viruses and resetting the router. I'm confident this does not have anything to do with my computer, but rather the router or the modem.
