[SOLVED] Slower fiber optic internet, whwn I'm using access point

Hi! I recently bought, a fiber optic internet packet, 100/35 Mbs. ISP installed in my home standard wired router and set up a new connection on my PC. Each time, I turn on or "wake up" PC, I need to go to Connection and click "Connect". To prevent this and provide wifi, I want to use my old but good AirLIve Wl 5470 AP access point. I connected internet cable to WAN port and my PC to one of the LAN ports. I entered user and pass given by my ISP, into blank spaces for PPPoE protocol connection type. Everything went good, except internet speed: I get 30/24 Mbs via LAN. When I'm not using this device, internet speed is maximum (100/35 Mbs). AP supports 100Mbs for LAN and 54 Mbs for wifi. What settings should I apply, to get max speed? Thanks for answers.

Hi! It's me again. Problem solved: I bought new gigabit router. It provides the same speed, as integrated LAN adapter on motherboard. And one important note: major of performances, depends of the cables. It has to be CAT 5e, but real CAT 5e, for 1Gbit speed. You can check that, when you check your ethernet adapter status. It shold say "1Gbit". If says "100Mbs", 5e cable is fake. I compared several different ones, labeled as 5e - only one provides 1Gbit. I don't have that speed of internet service, but can check like this.
That access point is wireless G, which is 15yrs of standards back. I'd recommend a unifi AP Lite or Pro. I've tested mine using iperf3 @ 180Mbs+ 2x2 mimo all over my house and basement.

Half the listed wifi speed standing right next to the wifi is about as good as you can get. assuming your client has the antennas to match it. most phones don't have 2x2 mimo. many new laptops have it or better. expensive phones do. the listed wifi speed tests are done in special RF optimized rooms to maximize speed that aren't ever going to happen with normal use.
 
@failboat Hi and thaks for answer. I think, you misunderstood me: wifi is not my issue, I know it varies for many reasons. I wonder, why is internet so slow, via the LAN (wired) port? I would like to have decent speed on LAN and wifi is not priority.
 


Have you tested speeds with your pc directly into the modem? Just leave your PC on DHCP and see if you get an IP.
 

Sure, I did! That's not a problem. The speed is great , than. The only speed issue is present, when I'm using my AP device (Airlive 5470 AP).
 


1. When plugged into modem or router speeds are normal?
2. Are speeds dropping only when you plug in an access point on the wired clients on the router?

2. Yes, but also the wifi clients have the speed drop even more (about 15 Mbs, max). Like I mentioned, I will be satisfied even with that speed for wifi. I'm trying to have a good speed for the wired client(s). I hope, I was clear: my ISP gave me just standard, wired router for fiber optic network.
It looks like, access point is somehow limiting the speed on 30% of maximum.
 


If an access point is hurting clients not even connected to it then something is going on. Trouble shooting isn't going to be easy. I would recommend replacing something that old.
 

Wait. We didn't understand each other in your last statement. I will have to investigate this scenario. You are suggesting me, to connect a wired client (PC) on the wired modem (router), and then connect the wired client with access point via LAN? And than, to test the speed?
In other words, my actual situation is this:
fiber-optic cable --> cable modem (by ISP) --> WAN port of AP (my device)---> PC on LAN port
