Question Slower upload speeds at close range

I bought the TPLINK Wifi 6 Archer AX3000 router to go with my existing TP Link range extender re650 and have been experiencing slower upload speeds (140/20) with 2 current devices at closer distances than further away (140/80+). Can someone please explain to me what is going on?

Distance matters to lesser extent than to what lies between the devices.

Consider what physical objects may be reducing/interfering with the signals between the devices.

Walls, furniture, wiring, other networks, etc..

Have you tried other frequencies/channels?

Yeah I tried different channels but the re650 only wants to stay on channel 149 when I change the routers channels. The re650 goes to channel 157 though when the router is on Auto (channel). I did move the re650 to a different wall socket and got better uploading results, but I can’t keep it there because downloading is worse (farther away from router).
