Small amount of water on surge protected plug, what symptoms can occur?

I accidentally got a small few droplets of water on my surge protected plug that my PC plugs into. I wiped away an excess.

It wasn't on but upon turning on my PC is a lot louder than it was previously, I have ran tests and there are no problems with FPS/lag etc and no other symptoms.

Would a surge protected plug prevent any issues with the power?
