I don't know how to explain this. There's a flashing window on my screen. It's so fast, I can't tell what it is. Is there a way to find out what that window is? Ever since I upgraded to Windows 11 by accident I've had this screen flash so quickly and it's like a rectangle size. I can't make out what it is because it's a quick flash. No hacks, viruses or malware of that sort. What can this be? I've searched the net, but I keep getting stuff about flickering but that's not my issue.

command prompt?

is it always flashing or just once?

how did you accidentally upgrade to win 11? I know how I did it, but how did you?

right click start
choose Windows Terminal (Admin)
if it doesn't open as powershell, click drop down arrow in title and pick it
copy/paste this command into window:

Repair-WindowsImage -Online -RestoreHealth

and press enter

Then type SFC /scannow

and press enter

Restart PC if SFC fixes any files as some fixes require a restart to be implemented

First command repairs the files SFC uses to clean files, and SFC fixes system files

SFC = System File Checker. First command runs DISM - https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/manufacture/desktop/what-is-dism?view=windows-11

I'm not kidding when I say this. I saw a windows update, I hit update. Took a shower, made coffee and came back to Windows 11. Gaming is terrible, bad FPS and I can't open up two instances of games. As for the window, it's really weird. Once in a blue moon it'll flash so quick and I can't tell what it is.

Online : True
ImageHealthState : Healthy
RestartNeeded : False

Beginning verification phase of system scan.
Verification 100% complete.

Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files and successfully repaired them.
For online repairs, details are included in the CBS log file located at
windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For offline
repairs, details are included in the log file provided by the /OFFLOGFILE flag.

if it doesn't fix it, try this before clean install

Try a clean boot and see if it changes anything - make sure to read instructions and make sure NOT to disable any microsoft services or windows won't load right - https://support.microsoft.com/en-au/help/929135/how-to-perform-a-clean-boot-in-windows

it just stops non Microsoft programs running at startup. Doesn't delete anything, easy to reverse

if clean boot fixes it, it shows its likely a startup program. You should, over a number of startups. restart the programs you stopped to isolate the one that is to blame.

if we can fix it without a clean install, that is preferred option. I only mention it as it all started after upgrade.
