Hi there,

I'm essentially wanting to put my own router in my bedroom wired from the SuperHub 2 downstairs.

Now, if you're wondering why I want to do this, it is because the wireless strength is terrible due to the location of the super hub, and I can't simply move the router to my room as house mates get all bitchy that I get the best signal.

So as a result, would it be feasible to run a small router from downstairs to upstairs via a cable?
Also any suggestions on which one to get, there will be a pc, 2x laptop and a few smartphones that need connecting to it.

Thanks in advance, Yinz.

What you actually need is a AP but pretty much any router can do that function. Since you are only using the radio part of the device most the other features on fancy routers do nothing. Maybe gig ports if the main router has gig and your internet can run over 100m. Since you are putting it in the same room I would still plug as much as possible into the "AP".

Unless you really want 802.11ac I would buy a mid price dual band router that says it can run at 600m (ie 300+300). That is best value for the performance since most end device do not have the ability to use the 3 antenna to get the 450 numbers.
