I just got a Corsair K95 platinum keyboard to replace my old razer keyboard of 10+ years. When I went to plug in the power and male passthrough USBs, I unplugged the power one and a small wisp of dust or smoke came out of the port, and the head of the usb smelled like warm plastic. I havent been able recreate it after unplugging and plugging it back in a few times, and I'm typing on the new keyboard right now. I can't smell any smoke or warmth coming from the port, But I was curious if this is something that may cause issues down the line, and if i should exchange the keyboard for a new one.

The port itself is still functioning and does not appear to be burnt. The Male connector of the keyboard also does not appear burnt, though it does have the warm plastic smell. it is not warm to the touch.

May have just been a bit of debris or mis-connection in the plug that caused a short until it burned itself "open".

However, the excess current may have caused other damage inside the keyboard that damage overtime may degrade performance and cause future problems.

I would return the K95 keyboard for a warranty replacement.
