Hey Tom's,

I am faced with a tight decision:

Get a 1tb (or 500gb) hard drive,

OR

Get a 120gb ssd.

MY BUDGET IS 70 DOLLARS.
If I wait for a day, it can be 80.

The reason I ask is I only have 80gb of storage (including OS) on my desktop right now. I need to play Titanfall, and my computer boots in a minute and 30 with my current samsung spinpoint. SO, do I get a Hard drive with storage, or an ssd with only 10 gigs to spare after OS, titanfall, and NFS rivals? Will the SSD really unlock (so to speak) my potential machine?

And titanfall is 55gb, and NFS rivals is 10gb. Both need to be on the ssd.
My current steam library is only 40gb.
And it WILL NOT BECOME LARGER.

Thanks!

If you get a SSD you will notice that your computer will "feel" faster because everything is booting up A LOT quicker.
But a SSD does not improve the performance of your machine, just give an illusion that your computer is faster.
Your games will not have higher fps, your computer will still lag if you open too many tabs on your browser, the system may freeze if you open too many programs, just like what would happen if you bought a HDD instead.
I would buy a SSD only if I have left over money, or if I have left over storage, which you seem to have none of either.
I recommend buying a HDD instead and save for a SSD later.

Holy crap.

I got a 120gb ARC100 OCZ drive today for 58 dollars, and my pc boots to chrome in win 7 in 12 seconds. Wow. Everything feels WAY faster, like I have an i7 or something 😀. Best upgrade to a PC ever. Period. I am loading titanfall on it overnight, will see how it is in morning! Thanks for the advice!!
