Hello everyone...

I have an outdated PC, still giving its kicks, until now...
Tried running games like Assassin Creed Unity and Batman Arkham Knight and got slammed on the face. Since its been a long time when i last researched about computers I'm outdated in knowledge, hence the resquest for help.

This is the "basic" spec on my PC:

CPU: Intel i7 920 D0
Memory: Corsair Dominator 3x2Gb Triple Channel
GPU: Sapphire HD 7850 1Gb
Motherboard: Asus P6T
OS: Windows 7 64x

I've seen videos on Youtube running both those games using the same CPU (overclocked) and 8Gb+ system memory installed and graphic cards with minimum 2Gb.

1- I'm thinking that upgrading the graphic card will be enough to have fun playing the games (i don't require hardcore graphics and playing at 1920x1080 is enough), so i was thinking something around the gtx950, 960 (limited budget);
2- I'm not sure if i require more system memory, and if i do need, how do i combine the upgrades, since now things are different between triple-channels vs dual-channels, etc;
3- CPU with overclock will do it apparently, so i think this part is covered.

Thanks for reading, anything questions or bad explanation on my text just point out and will reply to any...

Cheers

Assassin Creed Unity and Batman Arkham Knight are among the "best" ported games on PC, especially Arkham Knight.
I would not use them to make a reference if my system is old and which needs to be upgraded..however..i7 950+HD7850 are indeed already in need to be upgraded, at least recommended.
You can do either a big-bang upgrade or step by step.
If you want to do it step by step, I would start with the GPU and go for GTX960 or better.
After you have enough money, upgrade the proc and mobo..perhaps also PSU and RAM.

Get a GTX960 :)
But if you wanna play the latest 2015 titles at 60fps, get the GTX970. ACU is demanding.

Your CPU might be old but its still decent. Get a 6700k or 4790K if you have the cash.

I don't have enough money for "full upgrade" right now, since going for a new CPU = new mobo am RAM at least (plus a new graphic of course)...

Anyway, you think a new GPU for now will help at least to make things playable, and maybe with a CPU overlocked a bit (no need for full graphics for now)!?

Another issue is the 6Gb of system memory, for the batman example, i "read" 3Gb+ of RAM being consumed by the game itself (i get around 80% of memory in used) just for being in the main menu, assassins creed on the other hand, i can play the game but slugish to the eyes...

thanks for fast reply

I have already the feeling that you do not have enough money for now, that is why I wrote already about upgrading step by step.
GPU is the best first step :)
you can leave the RAM as it is for now.

As mentioned: Assassin Creed Unity and Batman Arkham Knight are sh*t. Forget them as reference. Try other games like Shadow of Mordor, GTA V or Witcher 3 for example as reference.
