Smaller CPU sink and fan

Hello --
CPU Sempron AMD AM2 on Dell 546 PC stopped working (a rare instance) Bought a Sempron AMD AM3 Mod. 145 and works well. However new CPU sink and fan are smaler than original unit. Manufacturer warns not to use anything else. Does size make a difference or should I install old sink and fan? I am an occasional user (just e-mail and such) and not a gamer.

I would just keep with the new one, even though it is smaller. It is what the manufacturer engineered to keep the CPU cool, and if you are just using it as a normal desktop, you shouldn't need anything more than that. It probably also uses better materials in the heatsink to more efficiently cool it.

To be on the safe side, download this:

and run it. Give us a printscreen and we will see how the temperatures are.

Use the old larger heatsink. it will work better and be quieter doinig it at the same time. The one that came with my 240 is annoying loud.
