Question Smaller surge protector with equipment protection?

I understand that a whole house protection is the way to go, and I'm looking into it. We have had two hits in the last few years, the most recent taking out our 5050ub. I am putting in some new ethernet cable and moving our router and adding a new switch etc., and looking for a smaller surge protector that has equipment protection. I am putting up a new av device with three shelves and want to have a small surge protector (single row is fine, or smaller) to plug in the router/modem, the switch and potentially another small device or two. It seems like the good surge protector devices are the big three row options like I have have from belkin, but one of those would take up a whole shelf and I'm looking for something smaller than that. Thanks.

There are a few small Tripp Lite units rated for 3330 joules like this:

You just have to shop around based on what joule rating you want.
