A friend of mine was admiring the Mac Mini and asked me if anyone was making something that size in the PC world. I told him I would look into it. So far I can't find a case anywhere near that size. Does anyone know of one? Also, I want to show him the Hiper Media Center case reviewed here, but I can't find anyone selling it. Does anyone know where it might be available? (Preferably US based)

Thanks!

Look for mini-itx and nano-itx. I've got my router in a casetronic travla c150 case, that sucker is pretty damned small. I've got a via epia cl10000 system in it, 1ghz eden proc, 1gb pc2100, 40gb 2.5" hd, and dual onboard nics. The perfect linux mini router :)

I didnt compare the price for 500 bucks for a MAC mini, and of course this includes all the software the a MAC gets, but how much did it cost you make the router computer? The MAC comes with some nice software.

I have some old 386s and Amigas I wouldnt mind trying to try Linux on these old IRON. hehe

I don't really care about the size.

I believe it was about 480 for everything. So if you use linux it will be pretty close to the mini price wise. 1gb of ram instead of 512 though.
The eden processor runs much cooler than a G4 proc and sucks less power. I believe my router draws about 20-25watts under load. So it will probably make less of a dent in the power bill, not that the mini makes much of a dent anyway though.
