Hello, my problem is that i get the "SMART failure predicted" message and the request to press F1 to continue. But when i press F1, the pc wont boot to the desktop, it restarts the PC and i get the SMART message again. If the HD (WD) is failing, how can i get to the desktop to backup data?

i would disable SMART

go into your BIOS, usually hitting del key when your system starts up (it will tell you on the initial splash screen)
then find in your BIOS where it says SMART for your hard drives and disable it

sry i can't be more specific on what to do, but many a BIOS are different, and its hard to know which one you have
