I bought a Samsung HD103SJ about 1.5 years ago... yesterday Windows didn't boot properly, CHKDSK found some error in system files and I was unable to use System Restore because it Windows prompt me the it unable to read files and maybe the HDD is damaged. I reinstalled Windows right now.
I've run Samsung official Diagnostic tool form CD (ESTOOL I think) and everything was OK, including the READ SURFACE SCAN which takes about 3 hours to complete.
But some SMART values are not good:
HD Tune: SAMSUNG HD103SJ Health
ID Current Worst ThresholdData Status
(01) Raw Read Error Rate 100 100 51 4 Ok
(02) Throughput Performance 252 252 0 0 Ok

(04) Start/Stop Count 100 100 0 915 Ok

(C6) Offline Uncorrectable 252 252 0 0 Ok
(C7) Ultra DMA CRC Error Count 200 200 0 0 Ok
(C8) Write Error Rate 100 100 0 3 Ok
(DF) Load/Unload Retry Count 252 252 0 0 Ok
(E1) Load/Unload Cycle Count 100 100 0 925 Ok
Power On Time : 8830
Health Status : Ok
I mean "Raw Read Error Rate", "Write Error Rate", and maybe also "Load/Unload Cycle Count". I know that at least the first two should be 0.
What should I do?? I still have warranty. Can I replace it even if the are no bad sectors and the official diagnostic tool test was OK. Warranty cover for that?
Maybe the HDD will continue to work fine?
Thanks.
