Hey,

Ok I'm tryna overclock my pc, too start with i had the stock P4 cooler and could only get stable with prime95 at 138FSB. So I got me a Alpha8942/Delta 46CFM@40dBA fan, my temps dropped 2°C and could get to 140FSB, I reaplied Arctic silver 3 the other day and my temps have dropped another 2°C now at 38-39°C Idle 50°C load , my case temps are 24-26°C now i can get to 142FSB stable with raising the voltage just a tad.

Is it normal for the cpu temp to be around 15°C more then the case temps????

I was thinking about getting a smartfan 2 rated at 76CFM @48dBA would my temps drop about 5°C??? And does is it really move that much air???

I have 2 front intakes 1xEnermax and 1xAntec(came with the case), 2 rear exhaust fans 1xEnermax and 1xAntec(came with the case) and 1 side intake on the gfx card 1xAntec(came with the case) all 8cm fans, and a 12cm enermax fan installed at teh 2nd pci slot level blowing up to the gfx card.

My system specs are:
P4 2.8GHz
Gigabyte GA-8IHXP rev2.1
1Gig Samsung CT9 RDRAM
ASUS GF2MX 🙁 herc 9700pro arriving soon :)
Turtlebeach santa cruz
Western digital 120Gb Special Edition
Antec 1080AMG w/430W truepower PSU

Anyone any idea's what i could do to get my overclock higher, the Smartfan 2 is the highest CFM fan i can find, all the others are maxed at 50cfm with the same dBA that are available to me 🙁

And if I get this fan where should I move my delta to intake or exhaust????

Thanks for your help in advance

yeah the delta "screamer" is an 80x80x38mm fan (as opposed to 80x80x25mm)
as the name suggests though, it's really loud. perhaps not much more so than a smart fan 2. hey if you don't mind the noise, either fan will blow lots of air, and you're well off with either one
i don't know about your temps dropping 5C...but you would see an improvement of at least 2C i'd say
and i prefer intake to exhaust

Thanks for the replies, so getting a smartfan 2 and putting it on my cpu with the extra 30CFM would drop my CPU temps by at least 2°C, should help at least and it would be quieter then the delta that came with the Alpha which isn't really a problem (only when there no sound in the room playing games i can't hear it :)

I can't get a tornado fan here that would be cool 80CFM

Thanks again guys
