For the past week my computer will freeze whenever I attempt to launch Smite or any Hi-Rez related services. I initially was launching through Steam so I tried verifying files as well as deleting and reinstalling the game with no luck. I also tried the client from the website itself and the same issue arises.
I contacted support and they basically had me run through everything I had already done as well as run a program to completely remove all Hi-Rez related files and reinstall. Still no luck. Finally I checked for corrupted files using sfc and found that [Amd64\CNBJ2530.DPB" of prncacla.inf] was corrupted and cannot be fixed. From my own research it seems that this is a commonly corrupted file (related to a printer?) in Windows but is generally not a problem and I have a hard time believing that it would be causing this issue with Smite. Nothing else has been affected. I initially tried running DISM RestoreHealth but that was hanging up for hours. I'm not sure how to get the file to manually replace it or if I even need to.
The only other mention I have seen of this problem was by 1 or 2 other people in the Steam Community discussions and the Smite forums but no one had figured out what was happening. There were some other people reporting issues with the launcher but not a total freeze like this.
Has anyone else had this problem?
