Smoke from motherboard

Long story short I got a super old gaming pc from relatives and I was cleaning it up. I removed the heat sinks to replace the paste but I didn’t have any. I did remove another smaller heat sink that was for the Integrated gpu I think, even tough it had a gpu. I wanted to see if the fans worked and went ahead and turned the pc on, but realized I forgot the heat sinks . There was smoke for 5 short seconds maximum. Is it totally fried or do I have a chance for it to still work? It’s my fist time doing this junkyard sorta thing.

Solution
98% sure its dead. You can go ahead and try it, but its not going to be good.
Why were you going around pulling heatsinks off things with no way to replace them in the first place?
