Smoking All In One

I have a Lenovo All In One PC that suddenly would not boot properly. The speakers make a popping sound and there is no video. Sometimes it would turn itself off, sometime not. Well I decided to remove the back covers and get a look at the internals of the system. While I had everything open, I plugged it in and turned in on. The speakers were still popping, single pops about every second, but in less than a minute the hard drive port began smoking pretty bad. I immediately unplugged it. The HDD tests good in my tower. I'm thinking this is a MOBO issue and I'm seeking either confirmation of this or suggestions as to what the problem may be. In 7 years of building and repairing PCs I've never encountered these types of symptoms. Thanks for your time and advice.

AIO machines often have the power delivered to the motherboard before it's distributed to the rest of the components. In essence the entire unit should be RMA'd, if it's under warranty, as the motherboard may just be one of a multitude of failure points in your system. Sourcing a motherboard would be easier said when looking through Ebay but that just means it's second hand and lacking a reliable warranty.

Can you please pass on the SKU for your AIO? It could be possible that the unit was recalled due to faulty manufacturing.
