Smoothness issue in DOTA 2 because of CPU or absence of GPU?

I've been playing DOTA 2 for many years now on the lowest possible settings.
Recently, DOTA 7.00 has been released and after spending some time on my friend's laptop, I noticed that my game seems really not smooth at all.
My current processor is an AMD Sempron 145 2.8Ghz (single core)
I do not have a GPU
I'm going in for a graphic card to fix this issue but I'm wondering whether it will fix the smoothness issue or is that a processor problem since mine has just a single core.

Solution
hi Sir Here Is The Dota 2 Details :)

OS: Windows 7.
Processor: Dual core from Intel or AMD at 2.8 GHz.
Memory: 4 GB RAM.
Graphics: nVidia GeForce 8600/9600GT, ATI/AMD Radeon HD2600/3600.
DirectX: Version 9.0c.
Network: Broadband Internet connection.
Hard Drive: 8 GB available space.
Sound Card: DirectX Compatible.

Both Of Em Are The Cause Of Issue !

But More Is Gpu Maybe And Also maybe Ur Memory (Ram)
It Requires 4Gb
So If U Got Less Than It So Smothness Will be Caused

If Ur Ram Is Lower Than 4gb The Problem Is That

Hope it Can Be Helpful

Best regards

Khd :)

Solution

I have 4gb ram. So looks like mostly, it's because of the GPU. Thanks for confirming. Going to order it right now 😀

no! don't do that, my 750 ti oc can barely hold up 40fps, same with my friend's 1080, the monkey update is garbage, maybe just wait for another week and hopefully valve team can come up with a solution or maybe a patch.

Oh alright. But anyway, I don't have a GPU. My system uses the Radeon 3000 internal graphics so I need one anyway.
