pls expand CMS.

anyway, if its a integrated circuit, a 8-pin IC i migt be able to help. tell me whats written on its surface. you need to know what is it supposed to before making it to do anything.

a "CMS" component is equal to a "discrete" component but maybe those terms arent used or arent the same in US

whatever this just precise that the electronics component is "very little" face off the electronics "standard" component because it has just few millimeters long
& it is soldered on the surface board (not plugged in under holes first because there is no holes on the board)
& that "CMS" components haven't certainly the same attributes as the "Standard" one

i think its an integrated circuit, a 8-pin IC but im not sure (i know few electronics things)

it is a little black rectangle component about 5 millimeters with 8 leads of 0.5 millimeter

i can just precise what it is written on it:

25P10V6
90361

& there is i think an electronic component sigle which is

       -------------
      |
      | --------
    / \ \ /
   / \ \ /
  -------- |
                    |
     -----------

i just found the same component 3 times in my VCR board but with other references

i don't know if this can help you to answer...

Is the manufacturer logo visible? you can check their site for the part number 25P10V6 which I guess has to do something with power.

It looks like a 8 pin SMT (Surface Mount Tech) IC. The DIAC has a similar symbol, but it just has two leads.

So whose logo is on there?

the unique logo we can see is that one which is described in my first post.
there is no other information.

note:
this component is on a ATI AIW 32Mo DDR gc card
the card is "BUILT BY ATI" mentioned which indicates that ATI is the manufacturer but i don't know if it's also the card components manufacturer.
