Yesterday I decided tidy up all my old ultra-scratchy cd´s.
When I tried to read from one of the really messed up cd´s the drive made a funny crackling noise, but continued like nothing had happened.
Later when I tried to burn a cd, Nero refused to read data from it.
When I copy files in explorer it works (sometimes), with a remarkably slow speed that is.
I ran a cd benchmark in Sisoft Sandra and got a result similar to a x8 cdrom, mine
is/was in fact a x32 drive.

So, here I am...in need of burning loads of cd´s but without a drive to do it for me.
Any suggestions?
Shall I open it and poke around a little.
Maybe I better bring it to the store and get it replaced?
What do you think?

Yes, don´t say it...I know I´m a sucker and that I should expect it to break apart.
But, hey...that´s me.

Btw, it´s a stupid Sony.

Well, I went to the shop and explained the problem.
It will now take 2 weeks before I get a replacement.
Wankers!
It´s a large chain of shops here in Sweden, so you really expect them to have some stored away...obviously not.

Stay with them.
You are the consumer that pays their salary, don't let them push you around.
They make $ millions, not you or me.
Chow.

A stick up your butt with that sir?
