There's only one definition of 'out': available to
end users. As in 'product on the shelves', or
'in stock, will ship today'.

A bunch of children with a whole lot of money to burn. Must be nice to be
able to afford a $500 vid card the day it come out. I'm just a poor loser
that will have to wait 6 months or more for the price to be cut in half. JLC

I see. So why does the Oxford require 7 pages to define "out" if it is that
simple?

simple price gouging. when more retailers start selling it, the price
will go back to normal.

I'll bet money that if you order from them they are "backordered" ;)

I see BestBuy has empty X800 marketing boxes on their shelves now. ;)

Actually the web site say that the x800 is part of their "extended
online store" and they would not be available in all stores.

I wouldn't expect them to get more than hand full. They never had more
than 2 or 3 9800pros in the store near me.

The X800 Pro is available on the Best Buy website for $399 and is listed as
in stock. The XT Platinum is preorder. If someone will give me the money
I will order one and let you all know how it goes.... :)

Yup, its called supply and demand.

If theres short supply and high demand they can charge anything they can get
away with. The rest of us wait for a few weeks and get the cards cheaper or
buy an 9800XT for fire sale prices. The 9800XT is by no means a slouch and are
sure to drop to the $250 range soon.
