So confused for Monitor

I have a msi 970 mobo with a amd fx 8350 cpu and a msi r9 390 gpu. I am looking for a new monitor as im running a 20 inch ips hp 2011xi. What can my setup handle? im not looking top end or anything just need to know if i should go with a 24 or 27 inch 1080 or a 1440 ? budget of 275 and sticking with ips. (for The division and photography.)

If you want to play at 60 fps on max settings you have to go 1080. if you dont mind dropping some settings or fps than get the 1440. but you cant have both with that setup.

24 or 27 inch ips ? 1080 is fine but i keep reading 1080 not so good on 27 ? and if i dont drop below 40 fps i dont really mind lol. i also only sit about 2 feet back from my screen

27" and 1080 really don't match up. You can see the pixels quite easily from viewing distance.

No reason an R9-390 can't run 2560x1440, kind of designed for it, and then some.

The r9-390 cannot run a new game at 1440 at 60 fps max settings. so saying "No reason an R9-390 can't run 2560x1440, kind of designed for it, and then some." is very misleading. sure it can "run" it but not at 60 fps max settings.

I see evidence both ways to support the R9-390 at 2560x1440 really depends on the title, and the settings. I don't generally shoot for 16x anti-aliasing (especially at that resolution)
