I just got my evga 8800gts 512 and oc'ed it from the stock 675 core to 820 (unlinked), 2000 shader and 1100 memory. I saw somebody else had a similar overclock and he dialed it back for gaming.

Thing is I set my fan to 60% (still quiet) and set it to go to 80% over 60C and set it to go to 100% if it goes over 70C and the fan has yet to speed up running Crysis or 3DMark.

If I dont have any artifacts and my core temperature is good am I safe?

If I was you I would check those fan settings again as I'd be very surprised if the fans haven't gone to 100% whilst playing Crysis or running 3DMark. What cooling are you using?

Stock, from what I have seen around the net there are a lot of people running over 800 with the stock fan. I will double check when I get home if it is possible to run 3Dmark in a window. If that doesnt do it Im guessing that ozone3d fur test would.

If my temps stay good am I safe?

I would say so. As long as your temps seem sensible and are in line with other 8800GTS's I wouldn't worry. Let me know what the temps are.

Yup I set it to manual too because rivatuner wasnt really doing it. If I set it to 60% it never really gets to hot running the ozone3d fur thing with 32x aa so I guess its good.

I clocked it down really far anyway just to be safe though the performance boost showed up in 3dmark but not in games
