So.. I am building a new comp (low budget)

And I have no idea what am I doing. I mean, I consider myself as a person with decent amount of knowledge about computers. I know what I am looking for and I know what's going on in a computer. The problem is, I've made mistakes in the past, and all of them were because I was biased towards one thing or another. I didn't care much, because I wasn't the one paying. I was a kid. Now I am working and I am building a PC on my own. My budget is still.. limited.. and low.. and that's the reason why I want to make SURE what I pay is worth the price.

I think it's important to mention - I can't buy parts online. My country has no paypal, and most companies don't really ship stuff to here. I am limited with what I can find here, and the money limit is pretty much set. I can afford 450-550 Euros (600$-740$), and I will list the price that we have in my local stores.

The question here is, what CPU should I put in my PC? I am not planning to overclock, and even tho the PC is mean for gaming mostly, I am not looking for anything too awesome. I am looking to be able to play some online games without ANY problem (League of Legends, MMOs, World of Tanks, etc), some new games, but I don't care for ULTRA HIGH. High or even Medium, at 1440x900 is good enough for me. It can do better than that? Sure, that's awesome. But that's not something that's really important to me. However, being able to stream League of Legends or WoT would be nice. I am not sure if that requires CPU or GPU power, but I think I should mention it.

The CPUs I am considering are these ones.

CPU Core i5-3470 Quad 3.2GHz LGA 1155 6MB BOX - 170 EUR/221 USD Click

CPU Core i5-3570K Quad 3.4GHz LGA 1155 6MB BOX - 206 EUR/275 USD Click

Maybe some AMD equivalent would be nice and cheaper? Or maybe this i7? Is this i7 worth the extra money, which will be A LOT for me. And no, I CAN NOT put any better i7, because even this one is pushing it to the limit, and even further.

CPU Core i7-3770 Quad 3.4GHz LGA 1155 8MB BOX 264 EUR/352 USD Click

I may give extra 50 Euros for CPU, if the i7 is like, A LOT better than the other 2. And I am talking about something really significant and noticeable for a normal user.

Feel free to recommend me a decent PSU or motherboard as well.

Thanks in advance, and I hope I am not asking for too much help here.

Thanks for your input, kind sir. Can you tell me why is that my best option?

Also, I like the mobo and the case. The PSU is kinda.. pissing me off to be honest. Not because it's a bad choice or anything.. but I saw the same PSU on newegg for 69$, and in the local shop its 120$...

@computernewb

I am thinking between GTX 650 Ti, and HD 7770 for a GPU.. the price difference is huge between the two (50 euros in the local store), and it's not worth the 10-15 extra FPS imo.

And no, I have 22" Samsung (I don't know the exact model) monitor, and I have OS. Just case with parts, minus the HDD. I have a HDD.

Thanks again. I will probably end up with that PSU as well.. It just annoys me how everything is a lot more expensive in my place 🙁

for gaming, a $100 cpu + $200 graphics card is much better than a $200 cpu + $100 graphics card. A 650ti and 7770 are pretty weak graphics card. On your budget you'd probably want a 7850 or 7870 and downgrade the cpu if necessary.

heres a comparison between a 7770 and 7850

The only cheaper CPU tho, is an i3.. I am not really sure if I want to go for an i3 instead of i5. The difference between 7770 and 7850 in price is huge, and that's the real problem here. I mean, as I mentioned, I am more concerned about being ABLE to play stuff, than how good and polished it is. 1400x900 and High (not ultra high), is perfect for me. In the local store, the difference between the two graphic cards is like, 100$...

I'm just saying an amd apu wouldn't be too bad in your situation, the a10 5800k can get around 30fps at 720p someone getting decent settings on most games with just the apu and. this way you can crossfire with the hd 6670 which is a cheep card too but you'll need good ram for the apu to run well but the a10 costs around the same as the i3. and of course you can get a better discrete later, but it probably won't be compatible with your a10 in hybrid xfire.

These games were ran without hybrid crossfire.

You'll want a second opinion on the a10 though

Btw an i3 is still a very capable cpu, but for games a graphics card is the decider for what settings you'll be playing on

To do i3 vs not to do i3 depends highly on how soon you want to buy / build / upgrade. i3 plays anything from last year and back very well due to programmers not using more then one to two high demand threads. With new consoles coming out and newer software focusing on multiple threads there will be a shift in gaming that will require 3~4 cores. This has already started to happen and will be in full swing next year.

So to answer your question,

If your only concern is something cheap that will work "right now" then the i3 is ok. If your concerned about this machine lasting two to three years (average PC life-cycle) then go with an i5. The 7770 would work as well as the a 660, though your limitation to local purchase only is really hurting you. It seems your local stores know that internet ordering isn't an option and have adjusted prices accordingly. Normally at this price range the APU's become an option though only for very specific systems and I don't think you'll be going that path.

Once again - thanks guys. My final decision is to go for the i5 with a HD7770, and later on, in a year or so, if I have money for an upgrade, I will just grab a better GPU.
