Hi all,

So I bought a GTX 680, 4gb, but it gets to the start up screen but does nothing else. This screen usually comes up before WITH MY OLD CARD BEFORE I HAD TO UPGRADE, and if you want to you can press a key and go into the bios. But now it comes up with this new card in, if you hit a key nothing happens. What usually happens is this screen come up for a second, then the computer loads up, but nothing with this new card in.

My SPECS.

That system ships with a GT420 (and OEM, 50W card).

A 4GB GTX 680 is a 195W GPU....

Have you replaced the PSU in the system? I'd be very, very surprised if it has anywhere close to the headroom available to run a 680, considering what it shipped with.

I upgraded to a AMD R9 290, that worked fine up until now, just think the card burned out, but I do remember I tried a grfoce card before I bought the AMD, that that would not work, but that card made my computer do a few beeping sounds, thus I think the gefoce was not compatible with my system. Thought I best tell you that, thas when I up graded the PS. But I suppose if the geforce was not compatible, it would make a a few beeping sounds as well ??? Someone over at the gefoces forums said this card was the fastest my comp would take.

Secure boot, ok I will try and see if I can do that, not sure I can, but will have a look in the BOIS.
Thank you.

Hi there,

I now bought a R9 290x, this does not seem to work, but the R9 290 did, but the X was only brought out a month later, dont tell me this card needs UEFI support ???

The R9 390x didn't work because the Cleveland-GL8 motherboard has a legacy BIOS (no UEFI support). Since a GTX 960 doesn't work on that motherboard (https://forums.evga.com/PC-can39t-boot-after-installing...), it's very doubtful a GTX 1080 would.

Thank you.
