So I just installed new GPU and ran 3dMark

Trying to figure out if it is good or not.

Bought a new RX 480 to replace my 6950.

So I ran the score and got 10378, it says it is better than 72% of scores which I think is good because the only people willing to pay for software to run benchmarks probably put some care into their rig.

I am just curious if that is good for my rig or if there is something I need to fix

2500K OC to 4.4mhz
RX 480 factory OC'd at 1338mhz
16 GB Ram 2133mhz DDR3

thanks.

well I got Doom to test it out, pretty happy. Play on high/ultra(some things high, some things ultra) getting 80-110 FPS (80 indoors, 100+ outdoors)

With my 144hz monitor with freesync it as smooth as butter.

http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/14681498?

hope that works.

I had to rerun it because the results were not saved.... scored better... now 78% (think its because I had the doom download running in background 1st time)

edit- the reason it said graphics drivers not approved is because I downloaded the optional AMD driver that just released. I ran the DX12 version before I updated drive and it said valid.

so this really throws me off

http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/14681888?

When I run this test I only score 42% better. I can't decided if

1. This is the newest test and only the best of the best run it.
2. I am missing some driver which is causing me to under perform.

DX12 is automatic with WIN10 right? I thought AMD GPU were supposed to be better at DX12 in general.

this is a high performance benchmark for the newest hardware, don´t worry that you are just one of many benchmarkers ;)

you can compare your results directly with others, who have an equal system. set the number of GPU to 1:
http://www.3dmark.com/search#/?mode=advanced&url=/proxycon/ajax/search/cpugpu/spy/P/1199/1092/500000?minScore=0&cpuName=Intel%20Core%20i5-2500K%20Processor&gpuName=AMD%20Radeon%20RX%20480

your CPU is just outdated for this benchmark, higher performing CPUs are getting more points of course
doesn´t mean that your CPU is a bottleneck, it´s just a benchmark at least

sli and crossfire systems are benchmarked too there, so your system doesn´t have a chance against these

exactly wat i was going to say...but my mate explained it better...completely aggree...

seems like quite a few people are pairing a 1080 with a 2500k, that seems like a bit of a waste to me... I am sure certain games it would be no issue, but if you are running a 2500k you also are still on PCI Express 2.1 (unless they made a later 1155 MOBO that has PCI 3.0). Also the outdated CPU is going to be a bottleneck many times.

^ the 1080 is a waste for any CPU @ 1080p mate.
Its a 1440p card , many people are buyingvthem just to have ' the most powerful card out there'

Your scores are good , bear in mind with 3d mark compares your competing with some monster overclocked dual & triple GPU setups.

Have you tries the search option , there are plenty of real comparisons to Riga with the same GPU/GPU as yours.

For a 4 year old cpu & a $250 mid range GPU your scores are not to be sniffed at.

The best part of the Futuremark benchmark site is the "Show result details" bar below your score. It'll show a bar graph and show where people with similar systems show up. As long as you are within the bulk of the scores, you are doing pretty good.

Your firestrike score showed you on the high end of similar systems, this one shows you on average for similar systems.

You are good.

2500K is the god CPU. It is an old god now.. but still a god.

I did some research on just doing a full upgrade, but the only demanding activity I use my PC for is gaming, and right now I just don't think its going to be an issues, or at least a big enough one its worth going the trouble (and extra 800 bucks) to go to a 6700k, DD4, + MOBO(and new CPU cooling and I would probably end up getting a new case... the rabbit hole it would become).

ur cpu is still gud for anothr couple of yrs...if not with the highest of settings, atleast with moderate to high ones u ll still be able to play for quite a while with that sandy...also kabylake is a few months away from launching...i dont think u shd bother abt upgrading now...

ya, tax return time seems like the best bet to finish the build. Probably still stick with RX480 as I normally stay in the 250-300 dollar range anyways and it will probably Q3 2017 before we see the next round of GPUs hit.
