so im gonna buy a i5 8400 what mobo should i get?

Any B360 chipset board with the features you like.

Any 300 series mobo that has all the connectors/slots you want. A H310 or B360 would probably be the best bang for buck. Could get a Z370, but those are meant for overclocking which you can't do with that CPU. H370 comes in between the B360 and Z370 in terms of features and cost.

if you looking for a motherboard with the same quality and most features of a Z series bord then a H370 would be the way to go . the only difference between a H and Z board is the H series does not have overclocking or NVIDIA SLI if you wanted to combine 2 NVIDIA GPU's
